Projects

The Virtual School Society works cooperatively with the Ministry of Education to support a number of initiatives and projects that impact education in BC. Educators and administrators across the province are engaged in these projects strategically.

Content Review
The VSS, through LearnNow BC, has been working to promote, foster and facilitate a culture of collaboration and sharing within the K-12 online content development and delivery communities. In summer 2006, a management system for online content that is inclusive, collaborative and most importantly, responsive to the real needs of learners and teachers was initiated. One element of this is the Content Review Process which involves identifying provincial content for review through peer (educators) evaluation, based on system-identified priorities. 

Content Needs Assessment
since January 2007, a Content Needs Assessment has been underway designed to determine the content needed by BC’s K-12 educators. This is another example of the VSS’s commitment to developing an inclusive and collaborative provincial content management system. Content is being developed almost equally across the four main subject areas: Math, Science, Social Studies and English with most development occurring at the grade 10 and 11 levels.
