Teacher Talk Online- Using the BC Performance Standards for Learning and Assessment: The DL Context

This session will highlight how teachers in the DL environment have used technology to use the BC Performance Standards for learning and for assessment. You’ll leave the session with some practical ideas and have an opportunity to share with other teachers in the asynchronous forum following the session.

Barb Ames, online intermediate teacher at North Coast Distance Education School, Terrace B.C.Barb currently teaches intermediate grades at the North Coast Distance Education School in Terrace, BC. She has been involved in the DE Provincial Writing Project, using Elluminate, and developing direct SSA support for special needs students using virtual classrooms.
Cathy van der Mark has worked throughout the Coast Mountains School District (SD#82) for the past 16 years as classroom teacher in grades K-10 and as principal/teacher of a one-room school. She is currently the District Vice Principal for Student Support Services. Cathy has been using the BC Performance Standards in Writing, Reading and Social Responsibility for the past seven years for assessment of, for and as learning.
