Do You Have First Nations Online Content?

Call For Content

If you own, or if you have permission from the owner to submit content which supports delivery of the BC secondary First Nations curriculum (grades 10-12), the Virtual School Society and our partner Open School invite you to submit it for review and evaluation by a team of online learning and curriculum specialists.

This call is open to:

  • Individual teachers, students, parents or administrators
  • BC Schools
  • BC School districts
  • Online/distributed learning service providers in the BC K-12 system
  • Private sector content vendors of educational courseware *

* Public sector content providers can submit and have their content reviewed at no cost.
* Private sector vendors will be charged a $1,000.00 fee to review and make the content available provincially through the ERC.

The purpose of this call is to identify and inventory high quality online First Nations content which has been vetted through this process in the ERC. This will facilitate province-wide access to high quality content suitable for delivery in a range of distributed learning environments.

Submission deadline is March 16, 2007

Confidentiality: Content submitted for review will not be shared with, used by, or distributed to anyone other than members of the Virtual School Society content review teams without the express written consent of the content owners.

Benefit

All Virtual School Society members have access to the ERC. Through a Commons License Agreement, educators will be able to access all provincial content that meets DL content standards through the ERC.

Identifying and inventory high quality online First Nations content is part of the Virtual School Society's commitment to supporting the creation of a management system for online content through which:

  • well-established content development groups are encouraged to collaborate regularly and share their content
  • individuals, schools or districts involved in online content development activities can access support services, including financial support
  • individuals, schools or districts can access mechanisms through which they can promote and share their content with others in the system.

Submission & Review Process

Before submitting any content you are considering, you may find it helpful to use our Content Standards Rubric that will be used to assess your submission. This Rubric is derived from the Ministry of Education Standards for K-12 Distributed Learning in British Columbia.

All content submitted will be reviewed and rated by a team of curriculum specialists and subject matter experts including teachers, instructional designers and online content development specialists. This team will review all submissions against the Standards for K-12 Distributed Learning in British Columbia.

How to Submit Content

To submit content for review, please complete the submission form. Results of the online First Nations content review will be available in May 2007.
